FB Studios – Ethical Working Policy
(for www.fbstudios.uk)
1. Who We Are
FB Studios is the production arm of Film Buddy Ltd, creating films, music videos, and digital content while offering genuine work-experience opportunities to students who take part in Film Buddy’s university programmes.
We believe creative work should be ethical, educational, and fair — ensuring every contributor is supported, safe, and treated lawfully.
2. What We Do
Student & Educational Projects
We collaborate with Film Buddy’s partner universities to provide supervised, learning experiences for students.
These placements are educational, time-limited, and unpaid, in line with UK higher-education placement exemptions from the National Minimum Wage.
Students remain enrolled at their university and are covered by their institution’s placement and safeguarding frameworks.
2A. International Students and Visa Conditions
FB Studios and Film Buddy Ltd support participation from international students who hold valid UK student visas.
All placements and learning activities are delivered under formal university agreements and remain part of the student’s academic course.
FB Studios does not act as a visa sponsor and does not employ or contract any student in breach of UK immigration rules.
Students and their institutions are responsible for ensuring that their visa conditions allow participation in placements or learning opportunities arranged through Film Buddy or FB Studios.
If a student’s visa status changes or restricts participation, Film Buddy reserves the right to pause or terminate the placement until eligibility is confirmed.
Charitable & Non commercial commissions
We create music videos, short films, and promotional work for charities, community groups, and student artists.
All such productions are donated to the organisation or artist for their own use.
Students may assist on these projects for learning purposes under professional supervision.
Commercial Commissions
FB Studios also undertakes commercial productions for companies, brands, and organisations.
Everyone performing a productive or creative role on a commercial project — including students — is paid at least the UK National Minimum Wage or a higher freelance rate.
Paid contributors work under clear agreements that cover duties, pay, intellectual property, and insurance.
3. How We Keep People Safe
We comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and maintain Employer’s Liability, Public Liability, and Professional Indemnity insurance.
All contributors receive appropriate safety inductions and are supervised by experienced professionals.
We carry out risk assessments for all productions, and key mentors hold DBS checks where required.
4. Equality & Inclusion
We promote equal opportunities for all, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, or background.
FB Studios and Film Buddy share a mission to make the creative industries more accessible and inclusive.
5. Ownership & Credit
Students keep portfolio rights to their contributions.
FB Studios retains production rights for distribution, promotion, or educational use.
If any donated or educational project later becomes commercial, contributors are offered fair payment and updated contracts.
6. Mixed Commercial & Educational Projects
From time to time, FB Studios may host students on work experience alongside paid crew during commercial shoots.
Students attend for observation and learning only; their tasks are non-essential to the final deliverable.
If any student’s work is used in the finished production, they are paid accordingly and covered under our employment and insurance provisions.
This ensures complete compliance with UK employment law and National Minimum Wage regulations.
7. Oversight & Review
FB Studios operates under the governance of Film Buddy Ltd, which provides oversight of our ethical, legal, and educational standards.
This policy is reviewed annually to ensure compliance with UK employment, safeguarding, equality, and data-protection law.
FB Studios is the production arm of Film Buddy Ltd (Company No.09749997)
